The number of teachers posting to the web and the number of students whose information is restricted have both increased. The RFISD Administrative Team has examined the logistics of protecting the students, the teachers, and the district.
Our conclusions include the need to return to a policy of not posting student names in captions on photos. This policy will allow us to post pictures without the need to gather the names of all students in group shots and crosscheck them against those who have not given us permission to post. Some names are published in bulletins and newsletters sent home to parents and, now, also published on the web. Those named must have a signed release on file with the district, or as we administer the procedure, those without a signed release on file must not have their name or picture included in the bulletins and newsletters. Teachers are notified if they teach the individuals for whom we do not have a signed release.
Along the same lines:
Student and employee privacy must be protected at all times. Students’ names should Not be used. Student and employee personal information including home addresses, home phone numbers, grades, etc. must not be posted.
