Strategic Planning Committee
Dick Wilson welcomed the
committee members back for the first Strategic Planning Committee of the
2005-2006 school year. Debbie Magnon Nolting, a high school teacher, was introduced as the
newest member of the SPC.
Rita Polen share d the
Results of an Aligned Curriculum with the committee. She noted that additional
data had been included in the document. This data addressed Adequate Yearly
Progress, AYP; the State Developed Alternative Assessment, SDAA; the Locally
Developed Alternative Assessment, LDAA; TAKS Cohort Data, and Texas Primary
Reading Inventory, TRPI. The committee reviewed the definitions for each new
item and reviewed the changes in the other definitions (TAKS, End of Course,
Dual Credit, and the Recommended High School Program). Some date is not
available at this time (SAT and ACT results for 2004-2005), and it will be
added to the document as soon as that data becomes available. The committee
discussed this information and approved the document.
Debbie Magnon Nolting, Martha Rouse, Dabs Hollimon, Susan Bendele, Kay
Magness and Rita Polen demonstrated the scope and sequence template to the SPC.
Kay Magness shared a completed Career and Technology unit that she teaches as
an example. The committee discussed the Timeline for the Development of the
Scope and Sequence(s) and the Expectations for the Faculty and Administration.
No changes were made to the documents. The template and the documents will be
shared with the faculty on Monday, August 15.
Rita Polen told the
committee that the research letter for parents will be distributed to all
students on the first day of school. This information will also be shared with
parents during Open House on each campus.
The SPC scheduled three
additional meetings for the year. These will be on Wednesday, November 16,
Wednesday, February 22, and Wednesday, May 17.
