Network Access & Storage

The Network Administrator sets up folders for each of you to use when saving your information. By saving to these network folders you will be able to access the information from any computer on either campus. Also, by using your network folder as the place you store your data, you can be assured if your computer crashes that your data will still be secure. The network is “backed up” on a regular basis so your chance of losing information is greatly minimized. No personal documents should be saved to the network.

We use Weblockers here as appropriate. You can also get 25 Gigabytes of storage at SkyDrive from Microsoft for free, free storage from DropBox, free storage from Google, and others.

Neither your email nor your network folder is completely private. That is covered in the Acceptable Use Guidelines. The administration can request access, technology has access, and law enforcement may be granted access. This is not a careless statement. Law enforcement has been granted access in the past.

Guidelines for what can be saved to this folder are included in the Acceptable Use Guidelines.
Email
RFISD uses Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 for email services. We encourage you to access through Microsoft Outlook when at school, and through the link on the website (which is Outlook Web Access) at any time you are not in your classroom. On the district home page or any campus home page, find the black horizontal menu bar. From the black menu bar, under "Staff", select "Teacher Web E-mail" in that dropdown menu.
You should use the web Outlook instead of the regular Outlook any time that you are not on your own teacher desktop in your classroom. This includes when you are in other rooms on campus, at home, and on the other campus.

Your email address is lastname@rfisd.net with few exceptions.

There are also distribution lists. You should be particularly careful about what you send out to a distribution list.

GradeSpeed.net is available to ES teachers from any computer that has an internet connection. txGradeBook is available online for secondary school teachers.
Scope and Sequence

Scope And Sequence is available to you from any teacher desktop on-campus. Access is through the program, FileMaker Pro. The unit section is used by all teachers. Lesson Plans are coming. Actually they are there now, but not required in this elelctronic format yet.
