Gates Millenium Scholars Program (GMS)
Qualifying students must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident, posses a 3.3 GPA or higher, meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility. Qualifying criteria and the application process can be viewed online at www.gmsp.org. Deadline to submit all documentation is January 11, 2012
TSA Texas Scholar Award (State Farm)
State Farm offers fifty $1,000, three $5,000, and one $10,000 scholarships. Visit www.texasscholaraward.com for scholarship guidelines.
San Antonio A&M Club Foundation
The San Antonio A&M Club Foundation will award a minimum of four scholarships to freshmen entering Texas A&M University at either the College Station or Galveston campus for the 2012 Fall Semester. Candidates must graduate from a Bexar County high school or reside in Bexar County at the time of graduation. Scholarship applications may be obtained at www.aggiepark.com. The applications must be received by 5 PM (local time) April 20, 2012.
"MAKE THE U" (HAZ LA U) Scholarship
One Grand Prize winner will be awarded a $15K Educational Grant and ten Second Place winners will each be awarded a $2,000 Educational Grant.
Apply at www.colgate.com/hazlau and complete the application and three essays (500 words or less).
Applications will be accepted from September 1st through December 31, 2011.
GEVC Scholarship
The GVEC Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship offered to 2011/2012 high school seniors. Student's parents must have an active GVEC electric account, meet all admission requirements of university or trade school selected, submit a resume, high school transcript, questionaire and application. All items must be sumitted in one envelope; incomplete packages will not be accepted. For additional eligibility requirements and an application visit www.gvec.org. Complete application packets are due Thursday, March 1, 2012.
The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards
If you've made a difference through volunteering over the past year, you could win $1,000 and a trip to Washington D.C. FIRE Foundation for Individual Rights in Education
Announcing the fourth annual "Freedom in Academia" high school essay contest. FIRE will award $12,500 in college scholarships, including a $5,000 scholarship to the student with the best essay. The deadline to enter is November 5, 2011; the winners will be announced by December 16, 2011. Students may enter online at www.thefire.org/contests.
National Center for Women & Information Technology NCWIT
Calling all digital divas, web chix, & coder girls! Apply for the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing and WIN $500, a lap top and a trip. Apply online between September 15-October 31,2011 at www.aspirationsaward.org.
Miss Smile Contest
The Alliance to the San Antonio District Dental Society hosts the Miss Smile Contest annually as a dental health project.High School aged young ladies have the opportunity to enter. There will be three top winners. The winners and their parents will be special guests at the San Antonio District Dental Society Holiday Party on December 13, 2011 at the Petroleum Club. The winner will receives a $1,000.00 savings bond. All three young ladies will represent the San Antonio District Dental Society on board a float in the Texas Cavaliers Fiesta River Parade in April of 2012.
The contest judging is based solely on the essay, read by a panel of eight judges.

2012 JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest
The JFK Library Foundation invites U.S. high school seniors to write an essay on an act of political courage by a U.S. official who served during or after 1956. First-place winner receives $10,000, Second-place receives $1,000 and up to five finalists receive $500 each. The General Hugh Shelton Leadership Scholarship
The General Hugh Shelton Leadership Center is pleased to offer a 4-year college scholarship for one emerging high school student leader to North Carolina State University. This is the 8th annual Hugh Shelton scholarship provided by the Center and is valued at $10,000 per year (renewable), plus an annual $2,000 stipend for external leadership experiences such as study abroad. The mission of the General Hugh Shelton Leadership Center is to "inspire, educate, and develop values-based leaders who are committed to personal integrity, professional ethics and selfless service". The American Legion Oratorical Contest
“A constitutional speech contest”
The American Legion Oratorical Contest exists to develop deeper knowledge and appreciation for the U.S. Constitution among high school students. The 70-year-old program presents participants with an academic speaking challenge that teaches important leadership qualities, the history of our nation’s laws, the ability to think and speak clearly, and an understanding of the duties, responsibilities, rights and privileges of American citizenship. Speaking subjects must be on some aspect of the U.S. Constitution, with some emphasis on the duties and obligations of citizens to our government. Speeches are eight to 10 minutes long; three- to five-minute speeches on an assigned topic also are part of the contest.

Horatio Alger Association Scholarship
This scholarship program provides financial assistance to students who have financial need, exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Scholarship criteria include: high school graduation in spring/summer 2012, commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree and United States citizen. Alamo Heights Rotary Club
The Alamo Heights Rotary Club will award (4) $2,000 scholarships to high school graduates of 2012. The scholarship will be awarded to individuals who have proven their academic ability, exhibited leadership skills and served their community. Two character references are required, one of which should be from an adult who has personal knowledge of the student's community service. The application and letter of instruction are available on the Alamo Heights Rotary Club website: AHrotary.org; click on "Organization"and then click the "scholarships" link. The deadline for submission is March 1, 2012.
The San Antonio Chapter Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. Scholarship Fund
The award is a $1,000 scholarship offered to seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students must be planning to enroll in college in 2012 and need assistance in meeting their college expenses. Applications must also include: TASF Form 62, personal essay, essay on the Tuskegee Airmen, proof of financial status, high school transcript, three letters of recommendation and a school/community activities list. The Art Institute Storytellers Photography Scholarship
Show your story, and you could earn a photography scholarship to an Art Institute school.

Native American Heritage Month Scholarship
This is a $200 - $1,000 scholarship award. Requirements include: writing a 500-1000 word essay. Topic: "Why is it important to remember our Ancestors?" together with "What importance does remembering one's ancestors play in Native American cultures, especially Native American military members?"  Additional information is available in the counseling office.  The deadline to submit an application is November 28, 2011. 
Art Institute Best Teen Chef Competition Scholarship
Pursue your passion--enter the Best Teen Chef Competition.  The first place winner will earn a $4,000 tuition scholarship to the school of your choice.  The second place winner will earn a $1,000 tuition scholarship.  Learn more by visiting www.artinstitutes.edu/BTC.  Deadline to enter is February 3, 2012.
2012/2013 Texas Student Housing Scholarship
This scholarship is open to students accepted to colleges in Austin, College Station, or Denton, Texas, that have not signed off-campus housing leases.  Scholarship amounts are awarded for the full or partial cost of an OFF-CAMPUS room for one (1)academic year and approved by the Texas Student Housing Authority.  Interested students may pick up an application packet in the counseling office.  Application deadline: January 31, 20112.
Texas A & M Foundation Excellence Award Scholarship
This award is available to incoming freshmen entering in the fall of 2012.  The award is in the amount ranging from  $2,000 - $5,000 per year.  The award was created to provide scholarships to students from econoically disadvantaged areas ad educationallly disadvataged backgrounds.  Applicants will be considered for multi-year scholarships.  Students may download an application and rules at giving.tamu.edu/fea.   The application cannot be submited online.  Applications must be postmarked by January 5, 2012.
AXA Achievement Scholarship
Learn more and apply online at www.axa-achievement.com.   Each state will have one winner.  Award amounts are scholarships in the amount of $10,000 and $25,000.  Apply by December 1, 2011
AXA Achievement Community Scholarship
Up to 375 scholarships will be awarded nationwide.  Each scholarship will be in the amount of $2,000.  Visit www.axa-achievement.com.  Apply by February 1, 2012. 
2012 NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award Program
A minimum of 100 scholarships including non-renewable and renewable awards ranging in value of $1,000 - $10,000.  The scholarship will recognize the entrepreneurial spirit of graduating seniors. Students must commit to attend an accredited two or four-year university, college, or vocational institute in the fall of 2012. Stephen J. Brady STOP Hunger Scholarship
The Stephen J. Brady STOP Hunger Scholarship recognize students who are driving awareness and mobilizing youth to be catalysts for innovative models and solutions to eliminae hunger in America.  Each scholarship recipient will receive $5,000 for their education as well as a matching grant in their name for the hunger-related charity of their choice.  For additional information regarding the scholarship program contact ISTS by email at          info @applyists.com     or by phone at 615-320-3149. 2012 Union Plus Scholarship
the Union Plus Education Service Union Plus helps union members and their children attend college. The scholarship program offers $150,000 in awards. To apply, visit www.UnionPlus.org/Education. Applications will be accepted through January 31, 2012.
2011-2012 Texas AFL-CIO Scholarship
This scholaship is available for high school seniors whose parent or guardian is a memer of a local union affiliated with the Texas AFL-CIO and with the area Central Labor Council. Applications are due by January 31, 2012.
Baumberger Endowment Scholarship
This scholarship is available to students who will graduate from a high school located within Bexar County. Student must have resided in Texas for at least 10 years and plan to attend a state-supported or non-denominational college or university within the State of Texas. Scholarship applications and eligibility rules are available in the counseling office or in English IV classes. Complete application packets must be received by February 15, 2012.
KFC Colonel's Scholars
KFC is lookingfor high school seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurail spirit to qualify for the KFC Colonel's scholars program. Awards are up to $20,000 for tuition, fees, textbooks, room and board. Students must plan to attend a public college or university within their state of legal residence, have a minimum GPA of 2.75, plan to pursue a bachelor's degree, demonstrate financial need. Applications will be accepted starting December 1, 2011 to February 8, 2012 at www.kfcscholars.org
Al's Formal Wear

Texas Engineering Foundation (TEF)
The Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) and the Texas Engineering Foundation (TEP)will award approximately $100,000 in scholarships to engineering students attend an ABET accredited university. An application and scholarship eligibiliy rules can be downloaded from the TSPE website www.tspe.org. Submissions must be postmarked by January 14, 2012. 4-H Opportunity Scholarship
Approximately 200 scholarships, ranging in the amounts of $1,000 to $16,000, will be awarded to graduating Texas 4-H members.
