Burton Classroom Rules and Regulations
Character Counts - My Expectations

The CHARACTER COUNTS! approach to character education doesn't exclude anyone. That's why I base my programs and materials on six ethical values that everyone can agree on — values that are not political, religious, or culturally biased.

Trustworthiness
Be honest • Don’t deceive, cheat, or steal • Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do • Have the courage to do the right thing • Build a good reputation • Be loyal — stand by your family, friends, and country

Respect
Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule • Be tolerant and accepting of differences • Use good manners, not bad language • Be considerate of the feelings of others • Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone • Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements

Responsibility
Do what you are supposed to do • Plan ahead • Persevere: keep on trying! • Always do your best • Use self-control • Be self-disciplined • Think before you act — consider the consequences • Be accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes • Set a good example for others

Fairness
Play by the rules • Take turns and share • Be open-minded; listen to others • Don’t take advantage of others • Don’t blame others carelessly • Treat all people fairly

Caring
Be kind • Be compassionate and show you care • Express gratitude • Forgive others • Help people in need

Citizenship
Do your share to make your school and community better • Cooperate • Get involved in community affairs • Stay informed; vote • Be a good neighbor • Obey laws and rules • Respect authority • Protect the environment • Volunteer

Classroom Rules and Regulations per the RFISD Student Code of Conduct Book:

Each student is expected to:
Demonstrate courtesy, even when others do not.
Behave in a responsible manner, always exercising self-discipline.
Attend all classes, regularly and on time.
Prepare for each class; take appropriate materials and assignments to class.
Meet district and campus standards of grooming and dress.
Obey all campus and classroom rules.
Respect the rights and privileges of students, teachers, and other district staff and volunteers.
Respect the property of others, including district property and facilities.
Cooperate with and assist the school staff in maintaining safety, order, and discipline.
Adhere to the requirements of the Student Code of Conduct.

BURTON CLASSROOM RULES
1. Be in your assigned seat, have all materials and stop talking when the bell rings.
2. Raise your hand to speak so I may acknowledge that you have the floor.
3. Remain in your seat.
4. No food or drink in the class.
5. Check the webpage daily for assignments
6. Check my home page for supplies and notebook/book instructions.
7. Bathroom and locker use needs to be taken care of on your time not during class. Too many times this becomes a constant disruption of the class.
